CLIENTDepartment of Fire and Emergency Services
LOCATIONFitzroy Crossing, WA
TIMEFRAME2025

In the aftermath of Ex-Tropical Cyclone Ellie and the significant flooding event that devastated the Kimberley in early 2023, the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) established a dedicated flood recovery taskforce to lead the immediate and complex recovery efforts. Two years on and as the region moves into a longer-term phase of recovery and resilience building, DFES sought to transition the work of the Kimberley Flood Operations taskforce into the business-as-usual Recovery and Resilience portfolio. To support this transition, agdots was engaged to design and facilitate a 1.5-day transition workshop aimed at enabling internal alignment, clarifying responsibilities and creating a shared pathway forward for integrating recovery functions as business-as-usual by July 2025. Given the unprecedented nature of the Kimberley floods, this workshop was the first of its kind and agdots worked closely and creatively with DFES to identify and articulate a process and ideal outcomes to best support the transition. Facilitated by agdots Managing Director, Elizabeth Brennan, the workshop brought together multidisciplinary DFES teams for an engaging and participatory process that surfaced lessons learned, identified ongoing needs and outlined key transition tasks.
