Jurien Bay Jetty
  • PROJECT:

    Jurien Bay Jetty

  • LOCATION:

    Jurien Bay, Western Australia

  • TIMEFRAME:

    2009-2010

  • Impact:

After storm damage rendered the two existing but old jetties unusable in 2003, the Shire and Community developed a concept plan to build a new Jetty and Foreshore Area. agdots was brought on to undertake the business planning and funding for the facility.

agdots worked with the Shire and the community to articulate a business plan that would enable the full economic benefit of the jetty to flow from the investment. The Jetty and Foreshore project is an iconic and large scale outdoor visitor and community facility that is unique in the coastal area to the north of Perth.

The total funding raised for the project including the Shire special rates was approximately $2.2M and agdots helped to develop the funding application for the Royalties for Regions funding application which was a record at the time of $750,000.

This continues to be a popular area for locals and visitors alike, and has helped to build a tourist destination and brand for this region.

Shire of Mingenew Community Strategic Plan Review

  • LOCATION:

    Mingenew, Western Australia

  • TIMEFRAME:

    2019

  • Impact:

The Shire of Mingenew completed a major review of its Strategic Community Plan, completed in 2019 by agdots.

The process identified the key drivers of change, creating both challenges and opportunities. The Strategy process focused keenly on these and the Shire and Communities aspirational population target of 500.

The ideas were closely shaped by the Community through workshops and in-depth interviews of both local people and Regional Development Organisations.

The result is a roadmap for the Shires Strategic Projects and Programs. The Strategic Planning Framework is innovative and has led to 5 key Strategy areas for investment – Leading Mingenew, Love Living in Mingenew, Growing Mingenew, See you in Mingenew and Making Business easy in Mingenew.

Through ongoing implementation of the key areas in the Strategy, Mingenew has a plan to maintain its vibrant and dynamic young community.

agdots assisted the Shire to use the Strategic Community Plan review to develop a more economically focused set of strategy areas which can deliver more value and help the Shire to grow its population base.

  • LOCATION:

    Wongan Hills, Western Australia

  • TIMEFRAME:

    2010-2011

  • Impact:

The Wongan Hills Station houses the Visitor Centre, Arts Centre and Community Resource Centre and is the hub of the community. The $4M project was developed by the Shire as a redevelopment of the old Train Station and has retained some of the heritage features of the old building.

agdots was engaged by the Shire to develop the Business Plan and to fund the Facility redevelopment. agdots carried out the community, regional community and government consultation to develop the concept plan and business plan for the facility.

The key concept behind the facility was to bring together the Visitor Centre (open 7 days a week), the Community Resource Centre which hosts the Shire Community Development Team and the very active local Arts Group which holds weekly arts activities and ongoing events for the community and visitors. A modern Training Centre was also included, along with offices, a board room and a commercial kitchen.

This project has become the hub of the community and is an important facility for the community combining each function under one roof, the design of which emulates the Wongan Hills.
